Self-editing is a very important aspect of putting together an outfit for yourself or designing a garment. You need to think critically about each aspect of the outfit and decide if everything is necessary and works with the rest of the outfit. Do you need to wear that bracelet? Does it add to the outfit or does it detract from the outfit? Do these shoes work with the outfit? Can I swap them out for something that will work better? There are many questions you should ask yourself so that you can put together or design the best outfit possible, making sure everything works together.

Many times I'll see a cute outfit, and had it only had some minor tweaks it would have made such a big difference. Think critically, and don't be stubborn just because you like a piece. You can always wear it with something better later! Think about the style you're going for, the colors, the textures, the patterns, and the shapes of all of the pieces in your outfit and decide whether it works together. Now this doesn't mean that you can't be creative, it's just about making very minor changes to an outfit to make it the best it can be.
